We’ve been working in partnership with Lancashire Wildlife Trust to deliver nature-based sessions at The Chai Centre in Burnley to improve health and wellbeing and provide access to green space.

The weekly sessions involve participants in creating the green space, from building planters from donated wood to growing and nurturing seeds to bloom to create an oasis in an urban environment. The sessions also involve food growing, wildlife gardening, bushcraft and nature walks.

The sessions aim to reduce social isolation, help to build confidence, improve mental wellbeing and improve education around nature and local ecology.

"Thanks to the sessions and the space at The Chai Centre my mental health has been greatly enhanced. I’m a lot happier and my confidence has improved. I’m still not one to mix with lots of people but I’m more comfortable with myself and happy in my own skin." - Nature and wellbeing session participant.
