Our Trust charity, Hope and Mind at LSCFT have put together 10 ways you can kickstart kindness and get involved to create positivity and goodwill across our communities today and into the future!
Make your colleague a drink
Surprising a colleague with a warm drink on a busy shift is a simple act of kindness that shows you care and gives them a moment to pause. Think of some other small ways you could support them, as little gestures often make a big impact.
Give a smile or compliment to a stranger
A genuine smile or kind word can instantly brighten someone’s day.
Call a friend for a chat
It’s easy to get caught up in our busy lives and to forget to get in touch with friends, but you’ll both benefit from connecting and catching up if you reach out today.
Send a thoughtful message
If you are struggling to pick up the phone today, why not send a kind note to friends or family. This could be sharing a funny story, a motivational quote or just letting them know you are thinking of them and care.
Donate to charity
If you're able, consider donating to a cause close to your heart. Donating to Hope and Mind at LSCFT can help us to make a difference to the care and services provided across Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT). You can help us to support brighter futures across our communities.
A small donation can make a big difference, and it can inspire others to give too. You can see how we’ve been making a difference on the what we do page of our website
Help a neighbour
It’s easy to overlook the difference we can make to our neighbours, a small helping hand or a first “hello” can go a long way.
Have a clear out
Why not sort through your wardrobe, home and toiletries. You could sell your clothes on websites such as vinted and ebay and then donate the proceeds to Hope and Mind. Or you could donate your toiletries or chocolates as prizes for tombola’s which help us to raise much needed funds.
Listen when someone needs to talk.
Listening attentively shows you value someone’s feelings and are interested in what they have to share. When people feel heard, it offers emotional support, helps them process their thoughts and creates a safe space.
Sign up to a charity fundraiser
Another great way to show an act of kindness is by signing up to a charity fundraiser. Whether it's a walk, run or an event you choose yourself, your participation can help raise awareness and much-needed funds in support of LSCFT. Our fundraising portfolio has so many events to choose from – from Snowdon at Night, local runs and much more. Head to our events page to find out more about what is on offer!
Host a bake sale
Get some friends together and bake your favourite cakes, whether it’s butterfly cakes or brownies and then sell them during lunchtime (with permission!) and donate the money to Hope and Mind at LSCFT.
We need help in building our community, so please remember to follow Hope and Mind at LSCFT on Instagram and LinkedIn and share us with your friends and family! Sharing our content will help raise our profile and allow us to continue to make positive differences in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
